Lighting solutions specialist Glamox has signed a contract to light the Wind Apex Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV), being built for Cadeler.The ship is a hybrid WTIV capable of installing both XL turbine foundations and wind turbines, expected to be delivered in the first half of 2027.
Finland-based Valmet has booked an order for a marine methanol fuel automation control system for two cable-laying vessels (CLVs) being built for Jan de Nul in China.The vessels will be built in the China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) shipyard for Jan De Nul, a company providing engineering solutions in maritime and offshore energy infrastructure and construction projects.

Jan de Nul has named its new XL cable laying vessel (CLV), an identical copy of the previously ordered Fleeming Jenkin, after an Irish scientist William Thomson.The William Thomson will have three carousels and cable-carrying capacity of 28,000 tonnes.The 215-meter-long sister vessels – Fleeming Jenkin and William Thomson - will be the largest cable-laying vessels in the world.
Belgium-based offshore installation contractor Jan De Nul has signed preferred supplier agreement with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for the installation of subsea high-voltage export cable for Fengmiao I offshore wind farm in Taiwan.The subsea cables, about 90 km long, will bring the wind energy generated at the 500 MW Fengmiao I wind farm ashore to Taichung City.
Dutch company Econowind, based in Zeewolde, has secured €1 million in development capital from Invest International to advance and test its VentoFoil XL, a 24-30 meter high steel wind sail inspired by aviation technology.
