Mississippi shipbuilder VT Halter Marine, Inc. said it has secured a new contract to build an articulated tug barge (ATB) tug with an option for a second vessel for Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc.Construction of the new vessel, M/V Evening Stroll, begins immediately at the builder’s Pascagoula, Miss. shipyard, with delivery scheduled for December 2019.

Moller-Maersk, acknowledged that the United states has announced it will cease its participation in the joint comprehensive plan of action (JCPOA), and re-impose Sanctions on Iran following a wind down period. Maersk will respect U.S. regulation on Iran, and has initiated preparations to ensure compliance before the wind-down period expires.
In 1990, Richie Bates (pictured) joined Bouchard Transportation as a mate on the Ellen S. Bouchard, and soon rose to Captain of the Morton S. Bouchard Jr. in 1994. As one of BTC’s long-standing employees, Capt. Bates currently serves as Captain of the M/V Donna J. McAllister Towing has taken delivery of Rosemary McAllister, the second in a series of four 100’ x 40’, 80 metric ton bollard pull tugboats. The new vessel, the 32nd tractor tug in McAllister’s fleet, was completed at Eastern Shipbuilding in Panama City, Fla.The Rosemary is powered by 3516E Tier IV Caterpillar engines with twin Schottel SRP4000FP units.
The third generation of the Bouchard family continues within the family business as Buster’s sons Morton S. Bouchard Jr. and Frederick E. Bouchard join the company as Dispatchers in 1955.
