Dredge Worker Sues for Injuries Suffered in Corpus Christi Explosion

A lawsuit has been filed in Nueces County, Texas on behalf of a worker who was injured and burned in an explosion and fire that occurred while he was working on the dredge Waymon L. Boyd in the Corpus Christi Ship Channel last month.The dredge worker, Jose Cantu, is among six crew members who were hospitalized after the dredge struck a gas pipeline, causing the vessel to catch fire and sink.

Hornbeck Offshore Services Emerges from Bankruptcy

U.S.-based offshore support vessel provider Hornbeck Offshore Services said Friday it had completed its reorganization and emerged from Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.The company had in April struck a comprehensive balance sheet restructuring support agreement with its lenders, to be implemented through a prepackaged chapter 11 filing in May in the Southern District of Texas.

Washington-based boat builder Armstrong Marine said it has delivered a new 42’ x 16’ catamaran research vessel, Benthic Cat, to Orca Maritime, Inc. following launch and sea trials in Port Angeles Harbor. The vessel will enter service immediately, beginning with a week-long operation around San Clemente Island.
