Stena Line Invests in Ferry Upgrades

Powered by growth on the Rostock and Trelleborg route, Stena Line announced plans to invest $5.5m in a refit and renovation of the cabins and public spaces onboard the two ships, FS Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and M/S Skåne.The refit will start in the end of December and take place both during the planned yard visits and during operation.

Dutch shipbuilder Royal Bodewes announced that U.K.-based shipping company Scotline Marine Holdings Ltd has exercised its option for a fourth newbuild 4,800 DWAT Bodewes Trader, to be named Scot Isles and launched in the third quarter of 2021.A 90-meter sister ship Scot Ranger is currently being built at Royal Bodewes' yard in Hoogezand.

Stena Line To Close Trelleborg-Sassnitz Route

Stena Line will permanently suspend operations on its ferry route between Trelleborg, Sweden and Sassnitz, Germany due to the coronavirus pandemic, the European operator announced on Wednesday.The cancellation comes after Stena Line announced in March it would temporarily suspend operations on the route.Stena Line has initiated discussions with the workers' council Betriebsrat in Germany.
