Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and GHELIA INC. (Ghelia) have entered into a business and capital alliance agreement that comes with an investment by NYK in Ghelia. The two companies will collaborate on R&D for autonomous ships, avoidance navigation, etc., as well as promote DX by introducing Ghelia’s AI technologies to business processes in various NYK divisions.
NYK signed an agreement to invest in “Navigator II,” an investment fund managed by theDOCK, an Israeli venture capital firm specializing in maritime technology. Navigator II invests in and supports startup companies that research and develop innovative technologies in the fields of shipping, ports, and supply chains.
Wärtsilä Voyage has completed an investment in Marindows, a Japanese company delivering an open digital platform for Japan’s marine industry, a move designed to strengthen Wärtsilä Voyage’s commitment to the Japanese market.Together, Marindows and Wärtsilä Voyage will work in the areas of vessel optimization and autonomy.
